Getting to Banff
Airport: The nearest airport is Calgary International Airport (YYC). From there, you have two main transportation options:
Car Rental: Ideal if you prefer to explore Banff and surrounding areas independently.
Hotel Shuttle: The Fairmont Banff Springs offers convenient access to public transit and shuttle services. Roam Public Transit Route 2 directly serves the hotel, connecting it to the town center and other areas in Banff. Additionally, private shuttle services and guided tours can transport guests to key destinations, including Lake Louise and other attractions

Entering Banff National Park
Since we are staying in Banff and it is in a national park - everyone entering the park needs a pass. The fees are subject to change in 2025, so check closer to your visit.
Daily Pass (for stays of less than 3 days):
Adult: $11.00/day
Senior (65+): $9.50/day
Youth (under 17): Free
Annual Pass (for stays of 3+ days):
Adult: $75.25
Senior: $64.50
Getting Around in Banff: Roam Transit
Driving in Banff can be tricky with limited parking, but Roam Transit makes it easy. Better yet, our hotel provides complimentary Roam Transit passes for local routes (1, 2, 4 & 6):
Route 1: Sulphur Mountain (Gondola and Banff Springs)
Route 2: Banff Springs Hotel to Tunnel Mountain
Route 4: Cave and Basin
Route 6: Lake Minnewanka

Key Activities to Check Out
Gondola Ride up Sulphur Mountain:
Accessible via Route 1 on Roam Transit, this iconic gondola offers stunning views. Pre-booking is recommended at least 48 hours in advance.
Cost: Approximately $66–$67 per person (subject to change).
Banff Upper Hot Springs:
Also accessible on Route 1, these hot springs are open 10:00 am to 10:30 pm.
Admission: $17.50 for adults, $15.25 for youth (3–17)
Lake Louise Adventure!
The Fairmont Banff Springs does not offer a free shuttle service to Lake Louise. However, you can utilize public transportation such as Roam Transit, which provides routes to Lake Louise from Banff, or consider private shuttle services that operate in the area for a fee. At Lake Louise, there are numerous activities to enjoy depending on the season:
Hiking: Popular trails include the Lake Agnes Tea House hike, which offers stunning views and leads to a charming tea house.
Scenic views: The Lake Louise Gondola provides breathtaking panoramic views and opportunities for wildlife spotting.
Canoeing: In summer, you can rent canoes to explore the lake's turquoise waters.
Winter sports: In winter, enjoy activities like ice skating on the frozen lake or skiing at the Lake Louise Ski Resort
Dining options: The Lake Agnes Tea House: A popular stop for hikers, this cozy tea house is accessible via a 3.5 km trail. It serves homemade soups, sandwiches, and a wide variety of teas in a rustic alpine setting. Laggan’s Mountain Bakery & Delicatessen: Located in the nearby village of Lake Louise, it’s an excellent choice for grab-and-go meals, baked goods, and sandwiches.
